Glimmers are those small things in life that add joy to our day. It could be a beautiful flower that we get to see coming up every day. It could be the beautiful sunrise we see every morning through our window. The cardinal that lands on a tree in our front yard or maybe it is the bunny that is making a nest in our yard. The song of the whippoorwill singing.
Perhaps it’s the laughter of children playing or the hug of your child on a rough day. Glimmers are wonderful small things that keep us going. It’s the smell of our favorite meal cooking in the kitchen or the taste of a ice cream cone during summer. It is the feel of water on our skin when we swim.
When you have been through trauma as many of us have in the past, it is important to pay attention to the glimmers in our lives. Glimmers may the difficult days less difficult and easier. When we learn to appreciate the small things in our lives it makes life all the more worthwhile.
The dandelion you make a wish from, the bubbles you can blow and the opportunity to watch that sunrise and sunset every day. You are reminded of the good things and the beauty in the world when you pay attention to the glimmers in your life.
