When people become parents, they may raise their children differently than others. Some parents may be strict with their children and their time. Other parents may be into the gentle parenting style and want their children to be sensitive individuals. We all have our preferences for the way that we parent our children. Some parents want to use cloth diapers and some disposable diapers. Some moms want to breast feed, and some want to feed their babies formula. When children get older the choices become more complicated such as should I send my kid to school or home school them.
Other questions arise when parenting such as what kinds of food to feed my children. There are also what kinds of habits do I want my children to have such as being a kind person or working hard in school. Another thing that a parent might want to decide is what activities will my children be involved in. The list can often go on and unfortunately some women decide to shame other women for not making the choices they themselves have made in their children’s lives.
One of the biggest questions that arises when you bring children into the world is whether or not you will stay home to raise them. I can say I enjoyed every minute of being given the opportunity to be home with my children. I do know that not every parent has that opportunity. For obvious reasons some women have to work continuously to help bring in more money for the family. Some people are two income families, and some are only one. The problem becomes when women try to shame other women for their choices. It’s been common for me to hear you didn’t have a long-term career, or you didn’t make a big salary when you worked. Just because you wanted to put your children in daycare all day and work towards your career doesn’t mean that the same choice is good for me. I wanted to be there for my children in every milestone, problem to solve and to help in their development. I’m not saying my choice is the best choice for you. It is a personal choice a preference for parenting, and I wish other women would stop shaming others for their choices. We should be happy for other women and the choices they make in life and celebrate each other.
