I feel it’s important to expose children to the arts. Allow them to create their own master pieces. The arts teaching children many things. One of the things that the arts teach children is expression of feelings. Another great thing that the arts teach children to have is empathy for others. In addition, the arts teach children to think outside the box and problem solve. Children also learn patience when working with art materials which is a great thing to have in life.

The arts are a wonderful way to have children express their feelings through pottery, drawing, dancing, writing, painting or any other medium that they decide to use. Each child is unique and the projects that they create can be just as unique in expressing themselves.

Through the arts children can learn about other cultures and develop empathy for others. When children learn about other cultures and traditions they learn to think of others. They may get to see different ways of life and economic areas that may not be as fortunate as themselves.

The arts allow children to express themselves freely through different mediums and come up with solutions when a project does not work the way they planned. Maybe the materials they are working with do not shape the way they want. I can think of a time when I worked with pottery and the item I worked with took a different shape than I wanted and instead of getting upset I went with it to see what the end result would be.

The arts teach children patience because working on projects often does not produce immediate results much like going on electronic gadgets used today. We live in a world where immediate gratification is something that happens often. We can get fast food, complete a degree online in half the time, order things online that come directly to our door now. Projects can often take repetition to master a certain medium and patience is necessary to complete the project.

Why not introduce your children to the arts? Whether it is, painting, music, dramatic play, clay, drawing, dancing, writing or whatever else they want to be creative with. They will develop some skills that can help them throughout life.
