Apple Donuts and Apple Cider with the Kids

What’s tastier than sharing apple donuts and apple cider with your kids on a Fall afternoon? You can make these delicious treats with your kids from scratch. Fall Crafts for kids

It’s that time of year with crisp air and colors on the trees. Pumpkin patches are full of pumpkins and squash are ready to be picked. Why not have a family bonding day and do Fall crafts with your kids? You can get some sponges from the store; wooden clothes pin, white paper and some…

Halloween Costumes for Children

It’s that time of year when parents have to think about the type of costume they want to buy or create for their children. Each child is unique in their own way and in their interests. They may have a favorite cartoon character such as Thomas the Train or Dora the Explorer. There are so…

Children look to their parents for guidance and encouragement. They want to make their parents proud and be successful in life. A parent’s job is to help the children to reach their full potential. Allow your children to try things and fail sometimes to learn how to handle it. It’s also important to allow your children an opportunity to try things to see what they like and are good at.

Foster your children’s gifts by allowing them an opportunity to participate in the things that they enjoy doing. Encourage your children to work in the areas that they enjoy. Whether it is buying the artist set for the child that wants to be an artist or buying a football for the child that wants to learn sports. Finding the time in your own schedule to foster these gifts that are within your children will allow them to grow.

Children are sponges and what you encourage and give an opportunity to grow in their lives will grow. For the child that enjoys aquatic mammals take them to the aquarium and give them an opportunity to see what it is like to work with aquatic mammals. Who knows they make become the next marine biologist.

The artist that has the painting set may become your next Rembrandt. Expecting your child to not follow the dreams and give them at least an opportunity to use them is not fair to them. We live in a world where children can be given the opportunity to reach their dreams through encouragement.

I fully agree with you about supporting and encouraging their interests, and I believe it is also important to support the child, or teenager decide to step away from something they have lost interested in. It is a fine line between getting frustrated with the struggle of mastering the next level in a skill and genuinely losing interest in something that attracted them when they were younger. The parents need to help them understand the value of persistence as a life skill in the first scenario, but also help them find their own balance between trying many things and specialising.
