Places to visit this Fall

There are so many great places to visit this Fall with the cool, crisp air. Going for train rides through the Poconos Mountains to watch the leaves change color could be one of the things. Jim Thorpe this time of year offers an amazing opportunity to go for a ride on a train to watch…

It’s that time of year with crisp air and colors on the trees. Pumpkin patches are full of pumpkins and squash are ready to be picked. Why not have a family bonding day and do Fall crafts with your kids? You can get some sponges from the store; wooden clothes pin, white paper and some orange paint to do some sponge painting. This is a really fun technique to try on paper with your kids.

Take a fresh sponge from the store and cut it into small pieces. Take those pieces and clip them with the clothes pin. Then dip this sponge with clothes pin attached in the orange paint. Now you can start sponge painting the white paper and make the shape of an orange pumpkin. A stem and leaves can be attached with a green marker.

Another great craft that you can make with kids is to take batting or fluff filler from the craft store and some paper bags. You can cut out the shape of a pumpkin using the paper bags and make sure your pumpkin has two sides to it. You can put the batting or fluff in the between the two halves of the pumpkin. Now you would glue or staple the pumpkin halves together. You can then paint the pumpkin orange and add a brown stem. It’s a fun and inexpensive project to do with your kids.

You can put newspaper down to protect the surfaces in your home from the paint and glue. This is a nice way to bond with your kids on a chilly Fall afternoon. I hope you get the opportunity to create one of these crafts or other ones with your kids.
