I’m a fifty something woman who raised two boys and is enjoying the second half of my life. I was a stay-at-home mom for years and I’m now discovering a different side to life. I enjoyed being there for my kids even though the days were hectic I will always cherish them. I’m currently exploring my creative side after working in human services and education for a bit. I hope to make writing a full-time side business in some way. Writing has always been a passion of mine and I would love to make a living doing it. Blogging has allowed me to follow a passion of mine and share my experiences with others. I hope to share with others what I know about child development and parenting.

Imagination

I think one of the most important things to foster in children is imagination. Give them a chance to dress up by providing clothes they can play dress up with. Provide opportunities for them to play with toys that foster imagination. Children should be given a chance to be creative and explore in the environment. Provide them with opportunities to go outside and use everyday objects such as sticks and stones to use creativity. Let them play with everyday items from your kitchen that they cannot get hurt on such as pans and wooden spoons to make drums.

Give them an opportunity to use artist utensils to create things such as paintings, drawings, and clay to express themselves. Let them use pieces of yarn to create a picture. The items do not have to be expensive or fancy for them to learn to create. Give them a chance to use paints, crayons and glue without your advice or direction. See what they can come up with on with imagination when given several tools in front of them with no direction.
