A parent knows that time when potty training takes place and there is the hope that your child will no longer have to wear diapers. There is also some frustration that comes with this stage as well. Your child tries on the potty and then leaks on the floor. They wait too long to use the potty, and they don’t make it in time. They don’t want to wear pull-ups anymore but, are not ready for potty training.
There are so many products on the market that are supposed to be helpful in potty training as well. You can find the musical potty in stores, the potty books for kids to prepare them. There are reward systems for sale that allow you to dole out stars or chart your child’s progress. Then there are the colorful characters on pull-up or training pants that are based on children’s interests.
There are little toilets made just for the size of little children with cartoon characters on them. There are even some that come with a handle so your child or you can take it along with you everywhere you go. Wipes made for children to use when potty training. There a just so many gimmicks on the market that are supposed to encourage your children to learn to potty train.
The reality of the situation is that you can buy all these products and encourage your child as much as you want to but, if your child is not ready to potty train they most likely are not going to be interested in it. You can buy that musical potty and explain to your child how it works which I believe is a good idea but, you must not push until they are ready.
You can purchase books on the process of potty training and how it all works that are geared towards your child. You can sit down and read to your child about the process of potty training but, this does not mean that they will decide they are ready when you want them to try.
Children can be encouraged and we can present tools to make them want to try something but, until they feel that they are ready it’s not going to happen. I’m not saying you shouldn’t present them with these great objects for potty training and encourage them trying them. I’m saying forcing a child to do something when they are not ready is usually not a good idea.
Go out and purchase these great potty-training gimmicks and encourage your child. Be supportive through the process and watch them progress. Make it a fun experience and watch for their lead. Happy potty training.
