Have you ever noticed the intricate details on buildings and homes? I often notice the details of the buildings that I pass each day driving. Some of the churches I pass have the most beautiful and intricate stained-glass windows. Arch windows that curve add interest to the window. Lattice work and gingerbread designs are very appealing to the eye. Bric a Brac on buildings that appeal to the eye. Ornate railings and cornices with large decorative pillars. Rosettes to accent the parts of the house make it stand out. Other designs that can be found are chevrons and zig zags which decorate houses. Decorative Victorian homes with round rooms have always been another interesting design for me. All of these things add an aesthetic appeal to the owner and those passing by. There is always the play on form, light, pattern, texture and space that goes into these homes. Intricate wood carvings, gables, and eaves can be found on some of the homes. Medallions, finials, gargoyles and corbels abound. I have always had a love of decorating and try to add unique touches to my own home.

Next time you get a chance to drive around some the most beautiful houses in town don’t forget to notice the designs on these homes. Adding these visually appealing elements to your home will make it unique and appealing to the eye.
