Spring is right around the corner! The snow is starting to melt, and the birds are coming out to enjoy the weather on the warmer days. Pretty soon it will be time to plant those flowers in the garden. There are so many different beautiful flowers to choose from. Daffodils, pansies, lilies, tulips and hyacinth all great flowers to plant in the springtime. When planting and growing flowers make sure the soil is fertilized and the plants are watered well. If planting in less-than-optimal soil such as shale a flower box might be a better option. Make sure if you are planting flowers in the shade, they are the ones that will thrive in the shade. If you are planting flowers in the full sun, make sure that they are the kind that will thrive in full sun. It’s important to read the directions on each of the plants that you have to figure out where the plants will thrive the most.
Watering flowers is just as important as planting them. If you over water, it is not good and if you under water it is not good. Either look on the tags that the plant comes with or look up online how to water the flowers. Flowers need the proper care to thrive and keep growing strong. Certain animals or bugs are not good for your garden either. Try to keep deer away from your flowers as some kinds of flowers or plants are liked by deer. In addition, making sure your garden is as pest free as possible is a great idea.
Putting little decorative garden figures or flags in your garden can enhance it decorativeness. Turtles, rabbits, gnomes are all popular figures to put into your garden to add a decorative element. It’s a personal choice as to what you want to place in there. Garden flags can also be wonderful elements to add to your garden. Garden flags can be changed for each holiday that takes place and adds a very decorative element. You could even coordinate the colors of plants you have in your garden with the flags that you place in your garden as well.
I know that I look forward to Spring for rabbit and bird watching. I also enjoy planting flowers and feeding the birds. Watching the squirrels climb the bird feeders and play. Whatever way you celebrate Spring may you get to enjoy it.
